Gelo Algarve is the regional service of Iceology, Unipessoal Lda, a Portuguese producer of food-grade ice and ice sculptures.
Why Gelo Algarve exists
The Algarve needs ice differently from the rest of Portugal: a few weeks of huge demand, very different customers — from beach clubs to holiday villas and yachts — and many of them from abroad. So we built a service just for this region, with English and Portuguese spoken and routes planned around the Algarve coast.
How our ice is made
Our ice is made in professional Japanese Hoshizaki machines from treated water and packed in sealed bags. The result is hard, dense ice that chills well and melts more slowly than the hollow ice from ordinary machines. The large formats — spheres, 5 cm cubes, rectangular blocks and Collins spears — are the same ones bartenders use in cocktail bars.
Who's behind it
Operations and invoicing are handled by Iceology, Unipessoal Lda (NIPC 517916002), with a team dedicated to production, logistics and sales of food-grade ice.
