Why the Algarve needs more ice
In July and August afternoons easily pass 35 °C, and a cool box in the sun loses ice fast. For outdoor parties, add 40% to what you'd normally plan. Keep the bags in the shade and open them one at a time.
Our Hoshizaki cube is solid and melts more slowly than hollow supermarket ice — with it, the numbers on this page go a long way.

Frequently asked questions
Does this include ice for chilling the drinks?
It covers ice for glasses and for keeping already-chilled drinks cold. If the bottles arrive warm, add one 5 kg bag for every 10–15 bottles in the cool box.
What if we have ice left over?
The bags are sealed, so unopened ones keep in the freezer for next time.
Do I need crushed ice or spheres?
For caipirinhas and mojitos, swap one bag in four for crushed ice. For whisky or negronis allow one sphere per glass — a bag of 16–25 is plenty for a dinner.
